Wednesday: NDP Montreal Poetry - Last this season | Monday, June 11th, 2007

Save the date: Wednesday June 13th at 6pm - yup, that's tomorrow evening! - is the last Noches De Poesia monthly get-together until after the summer season.

Noches de Poesia are informal, intense and intimate gatherings of local poets, writers, artists and musicians. The current venue is the delightful Le Dépanneur on Bernard street (fantastic drinks and food, but no Wi-Fi... otherwise I'd probably move in). The gatherings are organized by my good friend Élizabeth Robert, who is also a fantastic translator.

The noche de poesia this Wednesday is going to be, by all accounts, epic. The participant list reads like a regular who's who of the Montreal (and beyond) poetry scene. In addition to the mainstay readings in English, French, and Spanish, we'll also be treated to Arabic and Romanian.

If you have even a passing interest in poetry, writing, the Montreal culture / language scene, or just want to have an awesome Wednesday evening and surround your senses with beautiful words, sounds, and tastes (try the grill cheese!), you owe it to yourself to show up and immerse yourself in what is less and less one of the best-kept cultural secrets of Montreal.

More information.

There is no admission fee, but I suggest a one-beverage minimum. There will also be a raffle for some prizes, which I recommended buying into (partly because the prizes wil be awesome, but mostly because the proceeds go to Élizabeth, who does all of this completely voluntarily).
